Everyone knows about AWS S3, but according to a recent post by the creators of Bun, they added native support for S3 to their codebase.

It turns out the S3 protocol is a bit of a grey area. I can’t find any public specifications for a truly open protocol standard but I can find other projects that base their interfaces off of AWS S3.

Projects such as Minio. I have even found adaptors that accept S3-style requests and adapt them to other large computing providers.

What I have yet to find is any specific open source licences or documentation explaining who, if anyone, owns this protocol. If you know the answer to this let me know.
