Recently I came across this article that claims cloud computing customers are moving back to on premise. One of the biggest issues noted is the price of cloud computing, though there are arguments for taking control of your own data and an increased concern about cyber security.
My thoughts? I would imagine we are going to end up seeing more hybrid setups. Things that are currently computationally expensive, like training ML models on GPUs, might be run on prem. But on premise compute will always struggle to get the same reliability and speed that AWS can offer. It is likely that cheap fast operations like loading your website’s homepage will likely remain in the cloud… for now.
Are you considering ditching cloud computing for on prem?
