Guide Your Potential Customers To Buy With A “Self Assessment".
How do your customers know if they need your services or not? If you are a plumber this might be a bit easier for the customer to decide:
“My house is flooding. I should call a plumber.”
But what if you offer something more complex like what I do? The decision might not be so easy.
That is why I love the idea of a self assessment to help guide people to decide whether or not your offerings are a good fit for them. This is a great way to educate your customers on how to buy your services.
It also helps you filter out poor fits for your offerings. This can save you the headaches of needing to jump on a call with someone that is clearly not a good fit.
Or better yet you can guide them to another offering that would be a better fit. For example if a potential client doesn’t look like they would be a good fit for my one on one consulting then I might try to move them towards my Cloud Infrastructure/DevOps Community option(Coming soon…).
I came across this concept in a video by Chris Do AKA The Futur and within days of becoming aware of this concept I stumbled across a brilliant implementation of this concept on ptya.com complete with a video walkthrough. Brilliant!
I am actually contemplating waving my initial consolation fee for anyone who finishes my Self Assessment in full(and looks like a good fit). I am bouncing around a few different ideas for ROI calculators and a few other things.
My friend who runs a service helping them get their Italian Citizenship has a very specific pathway to help people. Not everyone trying to emigrate to Italy can use his services. Additionally, he uses a fairly manual onboarding process to get their family history. I am curious if he could kill 3 birds with one stone with a Self Assessment:
Educate the prospective lead on how the service works. Filter out leads that don’t match his niche criteria. Get them to submit some if not all of the family history he needs to perform his service without even jumping on a call with him.
Now that I put the idea in your head let me know what a Self Assessment might look like for your business?
